Several countries are, or have been, actively engaging in the acquisition of products and expertise to produce weapons of mass destruction. The acquisition of material and expertise takes place all over the world. Acquisition attempts in Sweden focus in particular on certain key products, partly because of our technically advanced industry and research, and a good infrastructure.
Sweden may be perceived as a good country from which to engage in acquisition. The open Swedish society makes it easy to map the export market and establish contacts with companies and scientists. Sweden´s well-functioning infrastructure is also one reason why it may be profitable to use the country as a logistic base.
